The statement “Time flies when you are having fun” is 1000% true. I can NOT believe my baby boy is already a year old as of the 20th of August. It seems like just yesterday he was in my stomach kicking around, giving me heart burn, and lighting up that hotspot on my left rib 😉 (never would have thought I would miss those things). Don’t get me wrong I am so glad he is growing and thriving, but it is such a bittersweet feeling knowing my baby boy will no longer just be considered a month anymore he will now officially be a year old. NO I am not ready for any more children, but River is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Over the past year I have learned all my weaknesses, all my strengths, all my frustrations have hit their highest points, all my happiness euphoric moments have hit their highest points watching my Rivman learn and grow, and I have even gained the most amazing relationship with my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I owe a lot of the reason I am who I am today to that bundle of joy River Drake Gary because of him I am a better person. I want nothing more but than to teach him that Jesus Christ died on the cross to give us sinners the opportunity to have eternal life and happiness and because of him all this is possible. I want to bring him up in church and show him that he has a church full of family members to help raise him and teach him the way of God and how to better serve our Lord. With all that being said I owe everything to that baby boy for making me take that step and answer God’s calling for me because I not only wanted to better myself, but I wanted to be a better mother for him as well. Jeremaih 29:11-13 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
I planned River’s birthday party over the past 2 months and crafted in between sessions, working, playing with River, editing, working out, etc. I got a little crazy with his party, but man I had a blast planning and crafting. I know the first birthday is usually more for the mom than it is for the baby, but I hope that one day he will look at these pictures and be like wow mom you really did an awesome job. I made everything from scratch, sewed his outfit, monogrammed his shirt, made his invitations, and set everything up. Pam Barnett made his cakes and man she did an AMAZING job…I gave her a picture and she made an exact replica of the picture all for an amazing price. We had a great turn out for the party and River got lots of awesome new toys and clothes which he is having a blast playing with today.
The theme for the party was vintage radio flyer and we had hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, fruit sticks, veggie fries in ranch, cake, candy bar (tootsie rolls, cracker jacks, click-o-sticks, peanut butter bars, lollipops), and old fashion pies. We had coke in the glass bottles and man they were a hit the kids LOVED them. As our thank you gifts we gave cookies in a jar all you have to do is add your own egg, butter, and vanilla extract. Everything went great and I am so grateful for each and every person that made it out to celebrate River Drake’s first birthday. Thank you all again and we love you all so very much!!!
